Financial Officer

We are seeking a high‑calibre, experienced, and purpose‑driven Finance professional to join our supermarket’s operational and administrative team in Matola. This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in demanding environments, leads with integrity and is motivated by the challenge of strengthening financial discipline in a fast‑paced retail operation.

The successful candidate will demonstrate technical excellence, strategic thinking, and hands‑on leadership, ensuring that financial processes, controls, and reporting standards consistently meet the highest levels of accuracy and compliance.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience leading teams and managing financial departments.
  • Strong proficiency in SAGE (mandatory), including financial systems, reconciliations, and reporting tools.
  • Solid experience in the retail sector, preferably supermarkets or FMCG environments.
  • High level of dynamism, resilience, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Flexibility to support operational demands beyond standard working hours.
  • Strong command of English, written and spoken.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.

Educational Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in Financial Management, SAGE, or ERP systems are an advantage.
  • Advanced computer literacy, especially in Excel, dashboards and financial reporting tools.

  • Understanding of retail cost structures, stock movements, and store financial routines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the Finance team, ensuring high performance and alignment with company standards.
  • Oversee daily financial reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
  • Manage month‑end closing, budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory requirements, and company policies.
  • Collaborate closely with store management to align financial processes with operational needs.
  • Drive improvements in financial procedures, systems, and reporting accuracy.
